Are You Afraid of The Dark?

Solve this Riddle from www.riddles.nu:

“The more there is of me, the less you see. What am I?”

Hint, the answer is in the title.

Darkness is something we all face. Did you know that darkness is mentioned around 137 times in the Bible? Most of the darkness mentioned deals with Inner or Worldly darkness. Regardless of which type is mentioned, the cure for both is Light. Not the light that is measured in Lumens, but the ultimate Light that is Jesus Christ. Be afraid no longer. Let’s discuss in detail.

Worldly Darkness

In Genesis, God talked about the Darkness that covered the world. Some of that Darkness is still present in the world today. Tune into your local news station and you will experience darkness at an epic level. Wars abroad, local wars, political division and hatred are a few examples of darkness in the world. If we fast forward from Genesis to John 12:46, there is hope for this darkness. Jesus said, “I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so all that put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.” This is wonderful news!

Inner Darkness

Inner darkness refers to areas of our lives that are not Christ like. These areas contain bitterness, anger, pettiness, hate, and jealousy. If these areas are not addressed, they can cause one to walk around in complete darkness. Jesus said in John 12:35, “Those who walk in darkness cannot see where they are going.” Have you ever been walking in dark and stubbed your toe? The pain you felt does not equate to the pain you will experience walking without the light, Jesus. The good news is once we get in tuned with Jesus, we become “Children of the light.” When we see friends and family struggling to find their way, we can help lead them back on the right path. Let your light Shine!

What kind of darkness are you dealing with today? You don’t have to be afraid of the dark. It’s as simple as adding a night light to a child’s room when they are afraid. Except the light we add is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Prayer:

Lord, we just want to say Thank You that You are the ultimate light. Nothing can be hidden from You because You Illuminate all. Show us what needs to be done and we will be careful to give You all the honor and all the praise. Amen.
