How Strong is your Belief in God?

Belief is probably one of the most controversial topics when it comes to the Christian Faith. If your answer to Believing in God is yes, do your actions show it? The word belief is similar to the word Love, in that they are both action words. Both can be told and not shown. We can say we believe in God but does our actions match. Belief in God falls into three categories: Do not believe, believe sometimes, holier than thou (not many if any fall in this category.

Most of us fall in the “Believe sometimes” category. Let me explain. When life is good our belief is at its peak. When trials and tribulations arrive, our belief is put to the test. When we can’t see a way out of a problem do we still believe or do we act out of character. Perfect illustration of this is the father of the demon possessed boy in Mark 9 144:24(NLT). The father told Jesus, “Have mercy on us and help us if you can.” Jesus then responds, “What do you mean, If I can.” Jesus has to be thinking these people are something else.

If we are honest with ourselves, during those troubled times when God seems to have the prayer line on “Do Not Disturb”, do we ask God to do something if he can? Jesus told the father that “anything is possible if a person believes. The father then makes a statement that we should all pray, “I do believe but help me overcome my unbelief.”

Unbelief can creep in when we become impatient. The father sounds to be panicking while talking to Jesus. Let that sink in for a minute. We should strive to get to a point where we Pray, Believe and let go.

Jesus said in Mark 11:24, “I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you’ve believed that you received it, it will be yours.”

Prayer

Lord, bless everyone reading this message. Lord, help us overcome any unbelief we may have. Help us to turn everything over to you knowing that it’s in perfect hands. We will continue to give you all the Praise, all the Glory in your son Jesus name. Amen
