What is your Definition of humble? Oxford Dictionary defines humble as having or showing a modest or low estimate of one’s importance. Now that we have Oxford’s definition of humble, what did Jesus think about being humble? How can his definition change your life?
In Matthew 23:12, Jesus told the crowd and his disciples that those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. In today’s terminology this means those who think they are important will eat the proverbial humble pie. And those who humble themselves will be held in high regard.
Throughout my personal life and professional career, I have always taken a humble approach. When you have the right mental disposition, you will meet people you shouldn’t meet, hold positions you shouldn’t hold and have a life you probably don’t deserve. This mindset will gain you favor with the majority because you have a servant mentality. This also falls in line with Jesus’ thoughts. He said he didn’t come to be served but to serve others.
Finally, Peter gave his advice to the elders that they should humble themselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Well said Peter!

Very great topic. Many times people flat out forget where they have come from. People who feel they have advantage will often look down on others not understanding that you have to humble. God put you in certain positions and certain places for a reason. You should be humble and grateful that God chose you. When God blesses you for certain reasons, he expect you to be a blessing to other.
