Being Thankful Put in Perspective

How often do you thank God? If I had to guess, I would say we all come up short in this area. In this materialistic society we live in, what we see can sometimes cloud our perspectives. Truth be told, what we don’t see is what we should be giving the most thanks for. I recently heard a statement that said, “I complained about my shoes until I saw someone with no feet.”

Jesus is looking for our thankfulness. Look at the story of the “Ten Men Healed of Leprosy” in Luke 17:11-19. Ten men cried asking Jesus to have mercy on them. He told them to go show themselves to the priest and they were healed on the way. One of the men noticed he was healed and came back praising and giving thanks. Jesus asked “Didn’t I heal ten men?

Jesus also practiced what he preached concerning thankfulness. During the “Last Super” he took cup and gave thanks to God. If you need another example, before Jesus fed 4000 people with seven loaves of bread and a few small fish, he thanked God again. If you noticed before Jesus provided food or drink to anyone, he gave thanks for it. This is the reason we should thank God before eating.

Stop what you are doing and make a list of everything you are thankful for. If you do it the correct way, you will probably run out of time or paper. A good place to start giving thanks is when you open your eyes every morning. This is because God allowed you to see another day which some may not experience. Thank You Lord!

Prayer:

Lord, first off, we just want to thank you! Thank you for allowing us to see another day. Lord, we don’t take anything you have given us granted. We will make a better effort at giving you all the praise and honor, in your son Jesus name. Amen.

Because God wakes up daily and give us access to our limbs, a mind to thinks for ourselves, we act as if that’s just God doing his job or we are entitled to it. If you were to just take one second to think about what if one morning you wake up and you couldn’t move. Your perspective of life itself would bc you normal is no longer that. You have to now make adjustments that probably have you uncomfortable. You then want to question God but when God granted you the life you felt you should have had daily anyways you took it for granted. By simple telling God Thank You, you show appreciation, you show that you are grateful and understanding bc he didn’t have to.
